NEP stands for the National Education Policy. In India, the most recent version is the NEP 2020, which was approved by the Union Cabinet on 29 July 2020. It replaced the earlier National Policy on Education, 1986, and is aimed at overhauling the Indian educational system to make it more holistic, flexible, multidisciplinary, aligned to the needs of the 21st century, and rooted in Indian values.
Boscotech: The First NEP Training Center in Barak Valley for Don Bosco School Students
We are proud to announce that Boscotech has become the first National Education Policy (NEP) Training Center in the entire Barak Valley, exclusively serving the students of Don Bosco School, Silchar. This pioneering initiative marks a major step forward in aligning school education with the goals of NEP 2020 — emphasizing skill development, experiential learning, and vocational training.
Leading the Change in Education
In accordance with the transformative vision of NEP 2020, our center has opened its doors to students of Classes 8, 9, and 11, offering them hands-on training in various industry-relevant trades. This early exposure empowers students to explore their interests, build practical skills, and prepare themselves for real-world challenges while still in school.
All Trades Under One Roof
What sets Boscotech apart is its comprehensive range of trades, all available at one location. Our center offers training in fields such as:
-

This integrated setup allows students to choose the trade they are passionate about, experience hands-on practical training, and gain valuable exposure to the world of work.
A Unique Collaboration
This collaboration between Don Bosco School, Silchar and Boscotech Vocational Training Institute is a model of how private institutions can work together to bring NEP into action. While NEP encourages vocational training from Class 6 onward, Boscotech has taken the initiative to convert this vision into a working reality for the students of Barak Valley.
